Amy’s Half Marathon

When Amy decided to lace up her running shoes and take on the Manchester Half-Marathon, it was more than just a personal fitness goal—it was a powerful tribute to her journey through loss and healing. Inspired by the compassionate support she received from Zephyr’s after the death of her son, Amy chose to give back, raising just over £2000 via Just Giving.
“Last year, my son was stillborn,” Amy shares. “Zephyr’s has been a safe and supportive space that has helped me navigate this incredibly difficult time. It’s been a pleasure to give back and support them in continuing their vital work.”
After being hospitalised last year, Amy began rebuilding her strength through the Couch to 5K programme. As her confidence grew, so did her ambition. Setting her sights on a bigger goal, she teamed up with two friends to take on the half-marathon as both a physical and emotional challenge.
“Completing the run was incredibly emotional,” Amy says. “It felt amazing to achieve something I thought might be impossible.”
One of the most unforgettable moments came as she crossed the finish line, flanked by her two supportive friends and cheered on by her family. “I am so proud of what we achieved and how much money we’ve been able to raise.”
Her message to anyone thinking about fundraising for Zephyr’s? “Do it. The support Zephyr’s provides is invaluable. Everyone involved with the charity has been through something incomprehensible, and being able to access their support is life-changing.”
As for whether she’d do it again? “Definitely.”
Amy’s story is a testament to the strength that can be found in community, the healing power of movement, and the impact one person can make.
Thank you, Amy!
