Colwick Park location
The address is Colwick Park, Racecourse Rd, Nottingham (NG2 4BH). If you’re driving, exit the A612 at the roundabout (with the horse statues) – following signs for Colwick Hall. Drive down Racecourse Road right to the very end past Colwick Hall, where you will find a car park. We will meet you here at the yellow gate, which is situated at the far end of the car park. If you’re coming by public transport, please be aware that the nearest bus stop is about 15 minute walk to the carpark/gate entrance to the park where we will meet.
Please bear in mind that parking is at your own risk, and make sure you carry any valuables with you (or leave them at home) Colwick’s park run is often ending as our wellbeing walk is beginning, so please ensure you arrive with plenty of time to park.
Bestwood Country Park location
The address for parking is Bestwood Country Park Winding Engine House car park (NG6 8UE). Entering Bestwood Village from Moor Lane, follow Park Road all the way through the village. (Please note this is NOT the Bestwood Lodge Drive car park accessed through Bestwood estate.) Leaving the car park, walk towards the Winding Engine House. We will be either on the second bench or under the pine tree in front of the Winding Engine House. Richard will be carrying an orange hat!
WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING
- Please wear and bring appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and for walking. We suggest layers and waterproofs if it’s looking wet. We will go ahead and walk in light rain (though not in severe weather)
- You may wish to bring a small rucksack with a bottle of water and anything else you feel you may need including any medication. You may want to bring something (small and light to carry) to sit on. Please also bring along a mug (we’ll bring a flask of tea to share)
- Please note you are responsible for any medication needs. Please respond to this if you have medical conditions that we need to be aware of.
- There are only toilet facilities at Colwick Country Park/Bestwood Country Park at one location, so you may opt to have a wild wee if needed! The toilets at Colwick are located near the playground of the bigger lake. At Bestwood there are toilets at the small café within the Winding Engine House compound between 9.30 and 12 on Saturday mornings.
