About Zephyr’s Counselling service
Zephyr’s offers a specialist bereavement counselling service, designed to support both individuals and couples that have been touched by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby or child. This service supports locally bereaved parents, grandparents and adults (occassionally working with bereaved siblings aged 18+) those living, working in, or who have received care in, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
We have been supporting people with our own ‘in-house’ service since Spring 2023, and have run a bereavement counselling service for those touched by pregnancy and childloss – previously funded by Zephyr’s that others provided on our behalf – since 2017.
Our 1-2-1 and couple based sessions sit alongside a program of monthly group activities, and those who are benefiting from our counselling support may also attend groups (either while they wait for counselling, during their therapy or afterwards) – there is no one set path through our support services – our doors are always open, and we encourage people to find their own way through the support that suits them best.
Our counselling service offers:
* 12 free sessions, usually held weekly or fortnightly – appointment frequency is set between counsellor and client.
* Counselling in person or online – in-person sessions hosted by placement students are carried out in our lovely Zephyr’s room in the Sherwood Community Centre.
* A specific path of support for those turning to counselling for pregnancy after loss.
* Counselling support for people individually or as a couple- clients are given the choice to be supported together, or individually, and to receive simultaneous individual sessions if this is what they wish for. Placement work is carried out with individuals only (unless you are undertaking a specific course in counselling with couples.)
* Opportunity for a short session extension, in line with our ‘exceptional circumstances’ policy, and in conversation with counsellor, supervisor our CEO and Therapy Service Lead. If this need arises during your placement, you will be supported.
* Open re-referral for those who wish.
* Free access to this support for all.
